The Chico, Calif., native will make his second U.S. Open debut after shooting 11-under-par in the Dallas, Texas, final qualifier held at Royal Oaks Country Club and Lakewood Country Club. Since turning professional in 2015, Kitayama has bounced around various tours, but finally earned his PGA Tour card by finishing third in the Korn Ferry Tour Finals last year. He has toiled on the Web.com Tour (now Korn Ferry Tour), Asian Tour and European Tour (now DP World Tour). He owns three professional victories, including two on the European Tour. He won the 2019 Oman Open and the 2018 AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open, which was co-sanctioned with the Asia Tour and Sunshine Tour. Kitayama played for the University of Nevada-Las Vegas from 2011-15. In March, Kitayama had his best PGA Tour finish when he tied for third at the Honda Classic.
